1.Bid Manager
Bid Management involves what, where and when of bids in general. It deals with how to put across a message strongly in writing, how to deal with the requirements to address multiple audiences within one document and how to produce a consistent proposal from multiplicity of sources.  One of the important aspects of bid management is robust personal skills. A bid manager deals with various human aspects of running a bid, for example, managing the bid team, negotiating for resources, communicating sales themes and so on and hence needs to have effective inter-personal skills. Bid manager by definition is a critical role in winning new business. Bids by their nature involve staff from across the breadth of the organisation. A bid manager needs to be able to interact with all these specialists in ensuring that a winning bid is put forward to the clients.

Requirement: EMEA Presales team
Response to proposals per year: As required ad-hoc and unpredictable
Career Path: Will have opportunity to move to a relationship/New Business Development (Sales) /Competency/Delivery  roles in long term
Team Involvement: Primarily work with Presales team and other external teams (functional experts, finance team and so on), if required.

Experience Level

  • Overall experience of 3 – 10 years, within which at least 2 years of Bid Management and/or delivery experience. Candidates with more than desired years of overall experience can also apply.
  • Fresh graduates with B.Tech or MBA can also apply, provided the associates are available within Tech Mahindra.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bid planning: Ensure that the bid runs with a project plan and drive it to closure on time.
  • Act as a Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for all parties involved in a bid.
  • Ensure issue resolution among various stakeholders.
  • Identify resource requirements to run the bid and fulfil the requirements with the help of Presales Head.
  • Form proposal team and its structure with clearly defined role and responsibilities of authors and reviewers. 
  • Validate the ‘qualification of the opportunity’ and document revenue projections.
  • Prepare RFP summary/storyboard and present it to all stakeholders.
  • Identify key objectives of the bid and translate them in to CTQs.
  • Identify win theme and value proposition along with the other team members and get the approval from senior management.
  • Identify client references by coordinating with the Sales team
  • Integrate the proposal response.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to come up with financial proposal and obtain the sign-off from the sales team.
  • Produce post-bid review.
  • Get hands-on and write few sections of the RFP response on their own or through the inputs from SMEs.
  • Must have good Microsoft Word, Excel and PPT skills.
  • The Bid Manager will be measured on targets such as Win Rate, Win Ratio, Quality of Proposals, On time Delivery of proposals .  These goals are carried as indirect targets flowing in directly from the Balance Score Card of Presales head.

2. Technical Architect
The solution architect (Applications) would be part of Presales team, primarily accountable to drive all application development, maintenance and support (ADMS) Request for Proposals (RFPs). An ideal candidate should be practitioner who has delivered ADMS projects for global customers and is currently performing the Solution Architect (Applications) role within a presales team.  While there is no bar in which technology/industry business vertical that he/she has expertise in, it is important for him/her to have exposure to all new/latest digital technologies (AIOPs, RPA, Cloud, IoT and so on).  The candidate should have ‘Hands-On’ experience in developing ADMS solutions, defend the same in-front of prospects/customers.  The candidate should also have experience in latest delivery models, tools and frameworks. (eg. DevSecOps, AIOPs driven operations)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solution Definition
    • Conduct solution brainstorming /white-boarding sessions
    • Should Interact with Sales team to get the pulse of the customer on their preferences/choices of solution components
    • Identify solution stakeholders and define solution scope for each
    • Define solution storyboard, key tenets of solution, differentiators, executive summary outline
    • Publish the High level Solution Straw-man identifying the major components of the solution – This will be drilled down by the technology, horizontal and vertical competency solution architects in their specific areas
    • Publish ‘Dos and Don’ts ‘ for solution development to each stakeholder
  • Solution Development
    • Develop drill-down solutions specific to customer’s needs (eg., Target Operating Model, location strategy, service delivery model, design SLA/SLC regime and so on)
    • Perform ADMS effort estimations
    • Get the estimations reviewed by delivery/practice team
    • Analyse the impact of any scope change through query resolutions from customer on the overall solution, timelines, efforts, SLAs
    • Identify product/technology partners, as needed
    • Should continuously interact with the individual solution component SPOC to review and guide the component solution so that it is in line with the overall solution
    • Baseline the proposal ready for submission
  • Solution/Proposal Review
    • Review and sanitize the review comments and queries
    • Ensure that there are no gaps/overlaps in effort estimates and the solution in a multi-pillar scenario
    • Review engagement level delivery schedule, communication and escalation plan, assumptions, risks and dependencies provided by delivery owner

Experience Level and education background

  • Overall experience of 7 – 15 years, within which at least 5 years of delivery experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Relevant industry certifications are desirable

3. Transition Solution Lead
The transition solution lead would be part of transition Center of Excellence, (part of Presales team), primarily accountable to drive transition solutions for all deals.   The selected personnel might be asked to execute the transition after we win the engagement and will come back to centre of excellence after the transition program is complete.  The candidate should have performed a  similar role of transitioning small, medium and large scale engagements from incumbent/customer resources.  Exposure to TUPE/ARD (people transfer) would be an added advantage.

Requirement: Presales team / Will be rotated into delivery for short durations (during transition times)

Team Involvement: Primarily work within Presales team and other external teams (functional experts, technical experts and so on), as required.
Indirect Relationships: Work with all stakeholders working on a bid (both internal and external teams).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct transition solution brainstorming /white-boarding sessions

  • Bring on board, the best practices of transitions from their previous experience
  • Ability to transition large transitions in a distributed team environment
  • Ability to identify all the key elements of transition (people, process and technology) and device an over all transition strategy.
  • Should have a broad understanding of multiple technologies both in applications as well as infrastructure side
  • Should have an appreciation of multiple cultures and should have presented transition solutions for global customers
  • Should have a good analytical skills to come up with a logic and design a compelling transition story for customers
  • Should draft transition solutions ‘’Hands on’’

4. Proposal Studio
Proposal Studio/Visual enhancement services involve the enhancement of over-all proposal quality (both word document as well as PPT versions) by enhancing the look and feel of the proposal, calling out the key messages from the proposal and making sure that right messaging is delivered to the prospects/customers.  An ideal candidate should have the calibre to build proposals from the scratch with the help of subject matter experts/solution architects, if required.

  • Produce professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates the organisation’s value proposition
  • Strong story boarding/story telling skills
  • Proven skills in producing and editing proposal content.
  • Experienced in participating storyboarding sessions, key review meetings/ final document review, content sign off and document production.
  • Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts
  • Re-write / edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, technical / product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, good planning and prioritising skills
  • Asks relevant questions to obtain clarity on key issues; proposes recommendations for process improvements drawing on own work experience
  • Be an expert both in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Presentation skills.
  • Should have worked on any other special software/tools being used in the industry to develop high quality proposals
  • Needs to be able to interact with all these specialists in ensuring that a winning bid is put forward to the clients.
